Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (APCO) is the world’s oldest and largest not-for-profit professional organization dedicated to the enhancement of public safety communications.

Bureau of Justice Assistance Local Law Enforcement Block Grants (LLEBG) program may be used for procuring equipment, technology and other material directly related to law enforcement functions.

Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Management contains information and forms for use with various grants the DHS&EM administers for the State of Alaska.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) offers information on federal disaster assistance and funding.

Justice Technology Information Network (JUSTNET) is the official web site for the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center (NLECTC) system, JUSTNET lists many grants and funding sources in the Virtual Library as well as various publications on communications interoperability.

Public Safety Interoperable Communications (PSIC) Grant Program was created by the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 (the Act) (Public Law 109-171), as amended by the Implementing Recommendations of the 9/11 Commission Act of 2007 (the 9/11 Act) (Public Law 110-53) and A bill to allow the funding for the interoperable emergency communications grant program established under the Digital Television Transition and Public Safety Act of 2005 to remain available until expended through fiscal year 2012, and for other purposes (Public Law 111-96).

SAFECOM grant program. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Emergency (OEC) Communications, in coordination with the Office for Interoperability and Compatibility (OIC), develops the annual SAFECOM Guidance on Emergency Communications Grants. The guidance provides recommendations to grantees seeking funding for interoperable emergency communications projects, including allowable costs, items to consider when funding emergency communications projects, grants management best practices for emergency communications grants, and information on standards that ensure greater interoperability. The guidance is intended to ensure that Federally-funded investments are compatible and support national goals and objectives for improving interoperability nationwide.

U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) offers funding opportunities to conduct research, to support law enforcement activities in state and local jurisdictions, to provide training and technical assistance, and to implement programs that improve the criminal justice system.

U.S. Fire Assistance (USFA) grants and funding contains information on financial assistance available from the U.S. Fire Administration and other Federal agencies for fire departments and other first responders, including the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFGP).

Rasmuson Foundation through its competitive grantmaking programs, the Rasmuson Foundation awards grants both to organizations serving Alaskans through a base of operations in Alaska, and to individuals for projects, fellowships and sabbaticals.

U.S. Department of Education offers discretionary grants to organizations, agencies, and individuals. These are awarded using a competitive process. Anyone who meets the eligibility requirements can apply.
